I recently started watching the new docuseries on the NWSL, For the Win, and it had me thinking of all the great documentaries out there solely about female athletes. Until just a handful of few years ago, it was hard to find a documentary that focused on the journey of women fighting for the recognition, attention, and equality that they deserve—especially since their audience is growing rapidly—more than their men counterparts in some sports.
Since I’ve seen quite a few at this point, here are the top 10 (in no particular order) you won’t regret watching as well as where to stream them:
Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team (Netflix)
Unfinished Business (Amazon Prime + Apple TV)
Sue Bird: In the Clutch (Netflix)
LFG (Max)
Naomi Osaka (Netflix)
Women of Troy (Max)
Sisters on Track (Netflix)
Simone Biles: Rising (Netflix)
Matildas: The World at Our Feet

The Price of Gold (Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+)
The Weight of Gold (HBO)
For The Win: NWSL (Prime)
Venus and Serena (Peacock and Prime)
Power of the Dream (Prime)
Touch the Wall (Peacock)
Lionesses: How Football Came Home (Apply TV and Prime)
